    [Forum] "Advertising" block missing from AdminCP

    I used adsense integration with vB3.8 without problem. Since upgrading to vB4, the "Advertising" block is missing from the left-hand column in AdminCP. I can manually navigate to deployads.php but I'd like the link back please - any suggestions?

    I appreciate that this may be a problem without a solution, so...

    Could someone using AdSense Integration please let me know what the URL is for the Add New Ad link in the AdminCP? If I know that, I can at least progress.

    Thanks

      I've just upgraded another of my forums to 4.0.4 and the same problem occurs, no Advertising block in the AdminCP left-hand column. Any suggestions or could someone just post the link URLs for the Advertising options?

        OK, so it looks like this is a permissions bug.

        the cpnav_ads.xml file for vB3.8 includes this line:

        <navgroup phrase="advertising" permissions="canadminads" displayorder="19">

        Whereas in vB 4.0.4 the line reads:

        <navgroup phrase="advertising" permissions="canadminstyles" displayorder="19">

        Changing this back to the vB3.8 version solves the problem - I can't say whether that is right or wrong but it works.

          I had the same issue. The cure was to change my user type to a super administrator. I seem to remember doing that in the template code - but you can search this forum for specifics.

            Problem Solved

            Please ignore my previous post. The real solution is to do with administrator permissions and you can see a description here.

            I have to say that this information should be included in the support documentation - I've been struggling with this issue for days.
