  • [Forum] Pre-populating text in a new thread

Hi, I would like to create a link that opens up vbulletin as a new thread post in a pre-defined category AND I want to pre-populate the text. Is this possible?

I already can accomplish the first part (ie. creating a new thread post in a pre-defined category) with the following URL:

    http://www.mydomain.com/forums?jfile=newthread.php&f=59

but what I want to figure out is if there is a way to also pass some text to pre-fill in the content (eg. '&message=some_text').

    Thanks!

There is a hack over on vbulletin.org called the Stencil Hack that will do what you want. It's in the 3.x section, but I think I tested it on my 4.0 test site and it worked fine.

Please don't PM or VM me for support - I only help out in the threads.

If I post CSS and you don't know where it goes, throw it into the additional.css template.
