Did you turn on the permissions?
It needs to be done in the AdminCP in both User Groups and the main controls:
AdminCP -> Options -> Settings -> User Picture Options
AdminCP -> User Groups -> Edit Each Group (as you see fit) -> Change permissions for Avatar usage.
Also, each user can turn off Avatars in their control panels.
Check those settings as a starting point and see if we can't isolate the problem.

Hello ENF.
bensmom again.
Still having trouble with my avatars showing up in posts.
I do not have user groups yet, but followed your instructions above on the user picture options.
Still can't see user avatars.
Here's a screen shot.
What am I doing wrong?
Thanks.
Newbie (but not for long)

Hello Bensmom, sorry for the delay in replying... it's just now after 10am here in Japan.
In regards to your question, usually the avatars either work or don't work at all. So, the avatars that show in your postbit (where your your name, title, post count etc show up) don't work at all? or are they working for some users?
I've also found that there have been cases where "Display Avatars" is turned off in User Control panels by default, so please consider that if you haven't already. To be updated...

There is a way to change all users settings at once, if you want the Avatar setting to be "ON" for all existing users.
I'd also recommend checking the "User Registrations Options" in your AdminCP (AdminCP -> Options -> Settings -> User Registration Options) -- You can specify default values for some items found in the user control panel for new users when they register.
Good Luck. Let us know if you need further assistance. To be updated...
