This addition to .htaccess here fixed my problem (4.0.7):

Can you provide a simple test account? Just a regular user account is fine.

No dice, sorry. It's so weird... I've also noticed that it doesn't want to hold onto a log out either - I will click log out, confirm, and no matter how many times I refresh I will remain logged in until I manually clear my cookies.

    TIA for further help!

Try changing your cookie domain to ".parentguidenews.com"

No, can you take a screen shot of your headers and http options settings group?

Yes, I can experience the same issue. Not sure what to do to correct the problem though, are you suggesting that I turn off the .htaccess www forwarding?

If a user were to go to http://domain.com and try to login, the login info is sent to www.domain.com, then they are redirected back to where they logged in from. http://domain.com not logged in.

Are you expircing the same issue as your users?

Sorry, don't understand your question. I do have an .htaccess file set up to redirect any and all http://parentguidenews.com requests to http://www.parentguidenews.com. Not sure how this is affecting my forum problem and if something needs to be changed there. It seemed to me that if I force a www into the URL and have the admincp setting set to a URL with the www, everything is on the same page.

Okay, now are you redirecting traffic from http://parentguidnews.com/Forums/ to www.parentguidenews.com/Forums ?

Forum URL is http://www.parentguidenews.com/Forums/, and in admincp it is set to http://www.parentguidenews.com/Forums (the note says not to include the trailing slash).

What is the URL of your forums, what is the Forum url set to in your admincp?

  • Post-login issue - login doesn't "take" until user refreshes page.

Here is my problem (just upgraded to 4.0.3, but problem began happening in 3.8.4):
    1. User is not logged in, but is browsing a thread
    2. User decides they want to reply to the thread, so clicks the "
    3. Page saying "You don't have permission to do that, please log in" comes up
    4. User logs in
    5. Screen saying "thank you for logging in, you will be redirected to the page you were viewing momentarily"
    6. Page saying "You don't have permission to do that, please log in" comes up
    7. Endless loop of steps 3-6 unless user refreshes, in which case the user can then post their reply

I assume this has something to do with cookies, but I've tried various solutions and can't get it right. I don't know what to do at this point except just put a note on the "You don't have permission, log in" page saying "if you think you ARE logged in, click refresh on your browser," which isn't exactly very user friendly. Can anyone help me out?

    Thanks!
