  • [Forum] How do I Moderate Inserted Videos and Images Inserted from a URL?

    Hello,

I've been testing this 100 different ways for hours now, and I can't see ANY way to require moderation on Inserted Videos or Images Inserted from a URL (not referenced locally). Am I missing something or has vB totally overlooked this functionality?

I see where on a per forum basis, you can disable [IMG] code, and that disallows both, however I don't see any way to allow it and require moderation (except if you require moderation for ALL posts, which is way too restrictive).

How could this possibly have been overlooked? Certainly we need to be able to stop users from posting porn and inappropriate images. In my world, this is much higher priority than worrying about what text they post.
    1. Am I correct that this functionality is currently MISSING?
    2. Is this classified as a "BUG"?
    3. Are there any plans by vB to RECTIFY this?
Gosh, I HOPE this will quickly be addressed!

Thanks in advance for the feedback.
    Jeff

I think it's only a bug in "your world"! You can probably find someone to code that for you. And here I thought being able to post porn was a feature not a bug.

No, something not intended to be in would not be a bug. Bugs are things that don't work the way they were intended to.

      Thank you Mr. Naked...

So am I the ONLY one who wants to prevent porn and inappropriate images from being posted on their site? What is the WHOLE point of moderation, if not to protect from THIS?

Are there no plans in the future to add moderation to these two types of images?

      Thanks for the feedback.

Sorry, just me. You'll probably have to moderate entire posts in that case. I guess it's assumed that someone who will post inappropriate videos will do the same in print. If there are enough people requesting this feature, they will respond. Can't even think of a good work-around for you. Is it an actual problem? I've not seen it myself, but I would certainly ban a user doing it, but of course, you want to "head 'em off at the pass".

If you think you can't trust your users, moderate all of their posts, at least until such time you believe you can trust them.

Sorry Zach, but this is a poor response as opposed to having the abilitity to moderate images. Eventually vB has NO choice but to implement this. This is a MUST HAVE!

It hasn't become a problem because first I haven't really promoted the site until now, and second I have previously moderated the entire posts, but I'm wanting to give members more freedom, but want some assurance I won't log onto my site and see a big "anvil" on my screen.

I think if you only allow attachments then you can moderate them that way. Really intensive on server storage though.

That discards the entire ability to embed videos, which I don't want to do. I don't want to loose functionality, I want to ensure compliance.

Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but if the product is to survive, this MUST become a feature!

Have a bit of faith in your users, if they prove they can't be trusted change things.
