  • [Forum] Plugin to generate threads on-the-fly in PHP for integration with existing web site

I have an established news/political opinion website, and this past weekend I added vb4 to it. My goal is to replace my current reader comment sections of the articles with threads in the vb4 forums on my server. To do this, I need to write a plugin that can create a new vb4 forum thread on-the-fly as an article is created, then capture the URL of that new thread and integrate it with my existing article system.

Before someone points out that vb4 now includes CMS, I'm well aware of that, but it's going to be awhile before I can make the switch. There's a whole bunch of customization I need to do to make the vb4 CMS do the same kinds of things my site currently offers. In the meantime, I want to get vb4 forum-type discussions going on my existing site in its current form.

Can someone point me to particular sections of the vb4 code where I can find existing functions or methods to use to achieve my goal?
