Sorry, but it seemed to follow on with the thread. Won't do it again!

Please post in the appropriate forum for the version you're running if you're looking for support.

You can set that under Usergroups > Usergroup Manager > Edit Usergroup > Private Message Permissions > Maximum Stored Messages

My defaults pretty much are 250 PM's for regular members (If they want more, they can either request it, or get a premium account, depending which one i have setup)

but admins, and mods need the space for support and etc, so i give them a good 10 thousand (If they need more, they get it, but so far its never been requested)

Actually, I *believe* if people are not saving the PM being sent to their sent folder, they can send if their PM box is full. Or in this case, overfull.

Hopefully a quick supplementary question on PM counts.

    - if a member belongs to a usergroup that has an allowance of say 200 PMs, but then is moved to a usergroup which only allows 150 PMs - do they retain the 200 PMs they may have or are some automatically deleted (e.g. oldest/newest) to fit the new allocation restriction?

I'm stingy. My users get 100.

I have mine set at 200, I think, for regular users. But many sites have it set at 500 or 1000. I think it just depends.

    Thank you!

Out of further interest. If you're a board owner, what do you tend to set your PM limits at?

That is the total number of PMs in their inbox, any custom PM folders, and the stuff in their sent PM box.

I did a search and read a dozen or so threads regarding the new vb messaging system vs the older private messaging system. Seems like a bad idea to have incorporated the old pm system into the new messaging...
