  • [Forum] css styling question - toplinks position

    Hi

    I want to move the toplinks to the center of my forum header (more to the left).
    I did not find any padding setting for this.

    Please advice

    Thanks

      You are talking about where it says "Welcome Lynne" etc? That stuff is set through absolute positioning and then positioned from the right:
      Code:
      .toplinks {
      color:#FFFFFF;
      font:11px  Arial,Tahoma,Calibri,Verdana,Geneva,sans-serif;
      position:absolute;
      right:20px;
      text-align:right;
      top:0;

      }
      So, you can change the right value, or set it from the left, or whatever.

      If I post CSS and you don't know where it goes, throw it into the additional.css template.

        Hi Lynne

        In which css file do I find the toplinks?
        I only can find it in vbulletin-chrome.css

          You can add your style customizations directly inside additional.css , they will overwrite default css values.

            Ok thanks

            but for such an important piece there must be normal settings somewhere?
            Also the background color when hovering over the toplinks?
            And when I am logged out then the .toplinks settings lynne posted have no effect.

              If they have no affect when logged out, my guess is that you didn't apply them to the style that logged out users use (the default style listed in vboptions > style options). And yes, you may edit the .toplinks directly in the vbulletin-chrome.css template if you like. I prefer to just do mine in additional.css though.

                Ah ok, thanks.

                I thought the chrome template was for the AdminCP

                I noticed the wrong standard style 5mins after I posted

                How do I change the background color of the toplinks?

                  I have a similar issue. Where's the CSS file located to edit the location of the toplinks?

                    ACP > Styles & Templates > Search in Templates > toplinks

                    It will return a few, though you primarily need: vbulletin-chrome.css. Just note that there are some additions specific to IE in the vbulletin-ie.css which you may need to take notice off and change depending on exactly what you are trying to achieve with your changes.

                    You can alternatively just enter the style of choice > CSS Templates > As above style names

                        Is there any way to everything to the bottom right of the header?

                        This is the original code:

                        @charset "UTF-8";
                        /* CSS Document */

                        /**
                        * CHROME: HEADER, NAVBAR, BREADCRUMB, FOOTER
                        */

                        /*************************************************/

                        .toplinks {
                        position:absolute;
                        {vb:stylevar right}:{vb:math {vb:stylevar padding}*2};
                        top:0;
                        color:{vb:stylevar toplinks_link_color};
                        font: {vb:stylevar header_font};
                        text-align:{vb:stylevar right};}
                        }

                          You need to post a link to your site and give us an image of what you want.

                            I would also like to move the login box...to just about anywhere other than where it is as it is over my logo. Is it possible to drop it below the navbar? Or is there a way to put it in it's own box say to the right using a 3 column layout?

                              You will probably need to edit the templates to move it and probably need a plugin to register the variables if you move it to another template. I think this has been discussed before over on vbulletin.org, the modification site, so you should try a search over there.
