  • [Forum] How do I remove a user

    true situation

    example

    Are you sure you want to delete the user called 'plaulaBam'?
    (userid: 2)

    All posts made by this user will be set to 'Guest'

    This action cannot be undone.

    When I click yes then I get this message

    vBulletin Message

    Sorry, this user is protected from being altered in the config.php file by the $config['SpecialUsers']['undeletableusers'] variable.

    Now here is a sample of my config file and you will see that there is no such person listed so I would like to know how to remove names that should not be there from the config file or is it listed in the sql file?

    // ****** USERS WITH ADMIN LOG VIEWING PERMISSIONS ******
    // The users specified here will be allowed to view the admin log in the control panel.
    // Users must be specified by *ID number* here. To obtain a user's ID number,
    // view their profile via the control panel. If this is a new installation, leave
    // the first user created will have a user ID of 1. Seperate each userid with a comma.
    $config['SpecialUsers']['canviewadminlog'] = '1';

    // ****** USERS WITH ADMIN LOG PRUNING PERMISSIONS ******
    // The users specified here will be allowed to remove ("prune") entries from the admin
    // log. See the above entry for more information on the format.
    $config['SpecialUsers']['canpruneadminlog'] = '1';

    // ****** USERS WITH QUERY RUNNING PERMISSIONS ******
    // The users specified here will be allowed to run queries from the control panel.
    // See the above entries for more information on the format.
    // Please note that the ability to run queries is quite powerful. You may wish
    // to remove all user IDs from this list for security reasons.
    $config['SpecialUsers']['canrunqueries'] = '1';

    // ****** UNDELETABLE / UNALTERABLE USERS ******
    // The users specified here will not be deletable or alterable from the control panel by any users.
    // To specify more than one user, separate userids with commas.
    $config['SpecialUsers']['undeletableusers'] = 'xxnx, xxxxxxxls, xxHx, xxxxon, xxxxxG';

    // ****** SUPER ADMINISTRATORS ******
    // The users specified below will have permission to access the administrator permissions
    // page, which controls the permissions of other administrators
    $config['SpecialUsers']['superadministrators'] = '1';

    None of the names listed include this name 'plaulaBam'

    is this a hidden exploit that works like a subseven backdoor? what is this

    I will appreciate any and all help given in this matter.

    Thank you

    I can not say this is the fix to the problem, but you have the wrong format:

    Code:
    $config['SpecialUsers']['undeletableusers'] = 'xxnx, xxxxxxxls, xxHx, xxxxon, xxxxxG';
    It should be something like this:
    Code:
    $config['SpecialUsers']['undeletableusers'] = '1,3,5,6';
    The numbers in the above example are the actual ID of the user, if you are the first user your user ID is 1. It is not the names of the users that you put in this file rather the ID.
