  • [Forum] Problem with login

    Since updating to vB4, I have been having a problem with the forum. If you try and log in, it keeps telling you your password/username is incorrect. To get into the forum, you have to click "Forum" then sign in, and when it comes back to the wrong password page, click on "Forum" again. If you don't do this you can't get in. Its pretty frustrating, and the members think I deleted/banned them because of this.

    I have the latest version, and several styles installed if that makes any difference to the problem.

    Create a new style with no parent:
    • Styles & Templates > Style Manager > Add New Style
    • Parent Style: No Parent Style
    • Title: Default vBulletin
    • Allow User Selection: Yes
    • Save

    Set this default style as your site default style. Now try to login to your site and see if you still have this problem.

    If I post CSS and you don't know where it goes, throw it into the additional.css template.

        OK, then try disabling your modifications/plugins and see if you still have this problem.
        Note: To temporarily disable the plugin system, edit config.php and add this line right under <?php

        PHP Code:
        define('DISABLE_HOOKS'true);

          I don't have my server login saved on this computer, so I'd have to wait til I get home to go in and edit the file, but I did try unchecking all the boxes next to the plugins in the plugin manager, and the problem is still there. If this doesn't do the same thing then I'll have to wait til later to try it.

            You should try the method I posted. Sometimes only unchecking the plugin boxes isn't enough.

                So, using a totally default style and absolutely no modifications doesn't fix the problem? I would put in a support ticket then.

                  Ok, because it did this before I uploaded any styles, and after (no one tried signing in until after I'd installed the chatbox, but even with that disabled it still misbehaves) the chatbox went in, I almost suspect one of my administrators ignored the "The forum is closed" warning and went in while I was installing.
