We've been having a similar problem too since the update to v 4.0.2 PL1

We're using user moderation. When a user registers, they can sign in, but if they try to make a post, they get a notice they've been banned.

Only after they're approved by an admin does this message go away.

I'm searching through the support forums now to find an answer.

So far, I just made a notice they says there's a false banned warning they may see. I selected it to show up when a user is awaiting moderation.

How exactly did you do it? Can we have a link to where that banned message is shown?

I made it so unregistered/not logged in can't see the forum. That's how I want it. The link on the main page is to login.php. What is says when someone clicks on it is "you have been banned."

I want it so that when someone is not logged it tells them to login or register and for them to not be able to view the forum until they do so
