These are some of the settings known to affect your attachment uploads:
    PHP Settings:
    max_execution_time
    memory_limit
    post_max_size
    upload_max_filesize
    max_input_time

    MySQL Settings:
    max_allowed_packet
    max_packet_size
    wait_timeout

If you store your attachments in the filesystem, as suggested above, then I don't think you will have to worry about the mysql settings. However, please make sure when you do backups, that you now also do a backup of your attachment directory.

    Hi
How do you mean switch to file system? Im using vb4.

It must be something to do with file size because I can upload small txt file but zip (which is in there by default) and rar do not upload. I just get "upload error"

Switch to the file system and it will eradicate any possibility of it being mysql.

Have you defined it in AdminCP -> Attachment Manager?

Cannot upload rar or zip files?

    Hi

I have a rar file I want to upload. It is about 2mb. I have set limit of 20mb in the settings. WHen I try to upload, the bar completes but then I get "upload error" and it does not tell me why.

Does anyone have an Idea why this would be happening?

PHP Max Post Size 8.00 MB
PHP Maximum Upload Size 50.00 MB
    PHP Memory Limit 300.00 MB
    MySQL Packet Size 32.00 MB

Those are my settings that come up at control panel home. Has it got something to do with the mysql packet size? If so how do I make it larger? If not, any idea what it is?

    Cheers
