  • [CMS] How do I customize CMS?

    Hello guys
Ok it is not trouble shooting, but I could not find a document or tutorial that could help me understand how to do the following:

    1) how do i change the dimensions of the left, center and right columns? namely the widgets and the main body where the article introduction is displayed?

    2) How do I create new widgets that could have different things like advertisement or site partners etc?

Also, I am a non-technical person so if someone could give me some links that could teach me how to backup the database through SSH (winscp) I would be really grateful

    Thank you fellows.

Download the pdfs on this page and read them. You should be able to do both 1 and 2 with ease.

    read widgets grids and layouts

      hello friend
      thanks for the response.
      yeah i have those files.
it tells us how to create articles and stuff but it doesnt tell us how to modify the codes or the width. i mean is it necessary to modify the width by codes? shouldnt it be done like we did in vbadvanced cmps?

click create widget in the CMS part of the ACP

to edit the layout go into the layout manager.

i am still learning this as i go too.

if you have the 4.0 suite why do you need abadvanced cmps?

no i didnt say that i need vba cmps, i said i used it prior to vb4 up0grade.
          now i dont use it.
vba cmps is easy to use in a sense that you dont need codes html for main operations, just drag and change fingures in columns and it will adjust the width.

            1. You can create a new grid, then choose the width of the column from the dropdown presets.
            2. Then go to layout manager, create a new layout and select the grid you created in the previous step.
            3. Place all the widgets on this layout.
            4. Then go to forum home and click on the pencil icon next to your FORUM HOME header, and select the layout you created in the 2nd step.
