  • [Forum] Using both Vbulletin and wordpress or joomla on same database?

    Hi

I am just starting another site and have already installed the database. For the homepage there is not going to be that much content but would like the ability of users to comment on items.

Is it possible to use the same database for vbulletin and worpress or joomla?

This is so users wouldnt need to register twice...

    Cheers

You would need to install a bridge for either. If you are starting a new site, why not use the suite?

I installed wordpress and got some sort of bridge things going but it didnt work properly and I didnt really like the look of wordpress so ill stick with joomla as I know it fairly well. Is there something so that if someone is registered on the forum they can comment on joomla or if they are registered on joomla they can use the forum? This is all I want so people do not have to register twice...

        Cheers

It is possible. Have vB3.8 and Joomla bridged using bbpixels bridge. One login, one database, some possibilities to drag some sort of interaction.

            Thanks Ill look into that.

Do you know of any security issues with joomla?

I only just installed this with fantastico and with the template content, I am trying to configure it but when I click on menu and then top menu and then try and change one of them for example about us my browser then automatically goes to http://pro2-antivirus.com/scn1/?id=p...0xMjY5MYEOPAJM and my browser then warns me to get out of this site. Trying to figure out if its my computer, my server host company or joomla itself..

Oh I have these great ideas to start another website and forget how hard they are to setup lol

Everything modular as joomla has security holes. You have to maintain latest versions of every module, plugin you install. But had no any real issues during Joomla 1.5 lifespan (and one half successful hacking during Joomla 1.0 - they managed to launch some shells, but we were fast enough to survive).

Bbpixel bridge works for me, but have to say, support on bbpixel site is worst I have ever seen over whole Internet.

              Regards

Cheers. Its the latest version I installed 1.515. Ill contact my hosting provider to speak to them as their files may be infected with something. All I did was install it with the sample data, did not install any addons but was just about to change the menus and then I got a redirection to that link above which pretends to be a virus scanner and then tries to force download a file!

The main thing on my site is going to be the forum but just wanted a few things on the homepage to attract users and to keep it updated, i thought wordpress would do the job but I couldnt figure out how to get rid of the "add comments" and "login" screen as i didnt want users to see that as I just wanted to use it for content...

Thanks for your help though ill look into the bridge.
