[Blog] Brackets still showing, can't parse links

Any help would be appreciated. Automatically parse links is on, it places the brackets, but that's what gets published –*complete with brackets.

I've looked everywhere and cannot find what might be overriding this...

Oy... I STILL can't get it to turn off... Okay, you know how the text looks in the editor, with the brackets around it, that's what gets published.

Ah... OK. So, you post a url and it gets posted with the url bbcode not parsed. Check vboptions > bbcode settings and make sure Allow Link BBCode is checked.

Hi Lynne,

The settings won't hold. I hit save, go back, and the "Allow Link BBcode" is still set to No. There are a number of panels within the site where it refuses changes such as this. Any ideas?

That is odd. Take a look at your error_logs and see if anything is showing up there when you triy to save and it isn't working.

Also, what does it say in Maintenance > Diagnostics > Problematic Web Modules ?

The above setting will indicate if mod_security is preventing some AJAX requests from being submitted to vBulletin. If this shows Yes then you either need to disable mod_security or change the AJAX settings with the vBulletin Options and disable Problematic features.

That's what I feared... suhosin has been known to cause this sort of problem. Here is a quote from Steve which may help you:

The most likely cause of this problem is the suhosin module in PHP. If so this can be fixed by editing the php.ini (requires root access to the server) or by via a .htaccess file with the following contents:

php_flag suhosin.cookie.encrypt Off
php_value suhosin.request.max_vars 2048
php_value suhosin.post.max_vars 2048

You can create your own .htaccess file and upload it to your main forum directory. It's a simple text file.

If this doesn't work or you get an 'Internal Server Error' after doing this, then unfortunately this means that your host is not allowing this change. The only thing you can do now is to ask your host to make the necessary changes to suhosin.
