[CMS] Widget/CMS Crashed Randomly - Had to clear CMS Cache?

Wow I don't know WTF happened but if this is going to be a semi-regular issue that we experience with vB4 this is not going to be fun having vb4.

I was getting an error about Widget cache keys and it would timeout my MySQL server. The database error messages that I was getting e-mailed to me were 1mb in size and crashes Thunderbird if I try to open it. If I try to open it in webmail, it completely effs my browser's output to:

(I had to delete it because it was just all gibberish and was past the size limit)

WTF???

Thankfully clearing CMS cache fixed it but this is completely unacceptable. What causes this?

Can you copy the bottom section of the error where it gives the error code etc and post it below please

The data portion is actually so long that it times out the MySQL server. The error message is MySQL server has gone away. It seems like the Widget ran amock and tried to insert the entire HTML into the data and that's why it locks up.

I had this with the latest forums post widget, appeared from nowhere and locked up browser when trying to view the error, I was told my host needed to increase the max php packet, which seemed a bit strange as it had worked previously then suddenly appeared, clearing CMS cache never worked for us though

I just had this happen again and clearing my cache fixed the problem. I'll try disabling the Latest Forums Post Widget and see if that fixes it.

Yeah removing it fixed it for us, but a shame we can't use it, was strange because it worked fine in IE, only crashed in Firefox and Chrome

Happy to hear that. In the meantime, this has happened twice in 12 hours. If removing the latest posts widget does not fix it, can you provide the steps to replicate what the fix is in 4.0.2?

The fix is in the caching, so it's not a simple fix. Sorry. If that doesn't fix it, PM me and I'll work with you.
