  • [Forum] ATTN: vBulletin Developers. A question only you can answer

I'm nearing the end of customizing two 4.0.1 boards. I've made extensive notes on the stylevars and CSS. My question is: How much has changed in 4.0.2? Will I be essentially recustomizing from scratch, or 50% of the board, 20%? I'd like to know ahead of time what I'll be facing, because 4.0.1 really threw everything out of whack and set me back weeks. Not to mention the huge decrease of my only income because I simply cannot take on new jobs as long as I haven't finished the current ones. And 4.0.2 could potentially keep me in these same jobs for another 2 weeks (without extra pay of course).

So can you give me (us) a rough idea of what to expect?

Perhaps there's a bug that prevents them from posting?

        lmao...

I think we will see more breaks as they fix the long standing issues but that's just me

I expect there will be breaks, I just want to know roughly how bad it will be. I'm sure the devs can guesstimate based on how many stylevars they've added or changed. ..."Yes, we added 30 new vars and changed 45 of them". Something like that.

I admire your willingness to customize this before it's even really complete. I've never been one to really do too many things to my board, but with this release I was planning on actually making my own style. So far, I've been hesitant to try anything due to the obvious turmoil that the software is in.

Not so willing, more like forced. A few people hired me to skin their 4.0RC forums back in December, and it's been a never-ending game of catch-up ever since. Each release means redoing what's already been done! But if 4.0.2 will be just as bad - or worse - I'm advising my clients to not upgrade. Better to wait for the real Gold in a month or two.
