It has to do with the class "has_ad" getting added to the first and last post in a thread. You can just remove it from the template.

I'm not sure about your Quick Reply, as it shows up fine on my site, but for the postbit issue, if you don't use the ads, find this line:

<div class="postrow<vb:if condition="$show['postedited'] || $post['signature']"> has_after_content</vb:if>">

Change to:

<div class="postrow">

AND

<div class="content<vb:if condition="$post['isfirstshown'] || $post['islastshown']"> has_ad</vb:if>">

Change to:

<div class="content">

If you mean you are getting line breaks where there are none, I have this bug too, and reported it.
