    or you can simply add this CSS code to your style sheet (to vbulletin.css file) in order to remove the button and collapse button

    Code:
    #sidebar_button_link {display:none;}
    #collapse_block_html_3 {display:none;}

      yes, thats the easy solution, but it behaves differently..
      the sidebar will allways be closed when user calls the page..
      in the javascript solution, it will be closed at first call, but if the user clicks open and leaves the page.. it will keep the status he has left it..

            open forum.php

            line 639: $close_sidebar = false;
            make it $close_sidebar = true;

            line 655: $close_sidebar = ($vbulletin->GPC['vbulletin_sidebar_collapse'] == 0 ? true : false);
            comment it like
            // $close_sidebar = ($vbulletin->GPC['vbulletin_sidebar_collapse'] == 0 ? true : false);

            save forum.php

            Downside: it will not save sidebar states per user.
