It affects 3.8.4 as well, there is a PL2 for that.
Oddly there's been no announcement but there's another thread on it somewhere.

After the last 24 hours diddling with this miserable upgrade that STILL WONT WORK, I hope the patch has some upgrade flaws sorted. I installed the patch on my 3.8.4 but have all but thrown in the towel on EVER having Vb 4 working. What a flicking mess.

The announcement will be posted shortly I believe. This isn't just a 4.0 issue before folks start using this as an excuse to jump on it again...Vote for:
- *Admin Settable Paid Subscription Reminder Timeframe*
- *PM - Add ability to reply to originator only*
- Add Admin ability to auto-subscribe users to specific channel(s)
- Highlight the correct navigation tab when you are on a custom page
- "Quick Route" Interface...
- Allow to use custom icons for individual forums

I presume it's delete install.php, upload and run forums/install.php as usual. Only the new documentation in the root doesn't actually cover the upgrade process and it actually says to delete install.php and upgrade1.php after a clean install. Only there's no upgrade1.php in the install directory. Anyone care to comment before I go ahead and run the upgrade script?
