[Forum] Upgrade vb 3.6.x to vb 4.2.0

Hello,

I know the vb3 theme isnt compatible with vb4 theme.
How can I upgrade vb 3.6.x to vb 4.2.0 with minimal downtime?
Including fixing the template incompatibilities?

Starme, with my own forum I got a free domain name with my hosts low end shared server package to use as a test site, then duplicated the forum on the test site after uploading all files and the database. This allowed us to perform a test upgrade, see what went wrong and try it again before trying it for real on the live site. The other advantage to this is that you can style the VB4.2 forum until you're happy with it, export the style and you're ready for a very quick upgrade on the live site.
