  • [Forum] 2 forums 1 server problem

    Hello,

This week i moved a friends forum due server problems to my server.
Because he was running version 4.1.4 we upgraded to 4.1.8, at this point we ran into a weird problem and not sure why this is happening.
    My forum = Forum1
    His forum = Forum2

When the upgrade starts for forum2 it breaks forum1 and gives a database error. When i repair forum1 with the upgrade.php forum2 breaks.

After this we restored the sites and i upgraded forum1 to 4.1.8 everything went fine. Then we upgraded forum2 to 4.1.8 and again it breaks forum1.
Again i used upgrade.php again for forum1 to get it working, but at that point it breaks forum2

Both databases have different prefix, usernames and passwords.

I searched the internet, but did not find what this problem can be.

Do you have two totally separate databases for the two sites or are you sharing a database? You should have created a new database for their site.

Please don't PM or VM me for support - I only help out in the threads.

If I post CSS and you don't know where it goes, throw it into the additional.css template.

And what is the exact database error you get when you do an upgrade?

Well i get a database error about a plugin (thank you mod) that he has installed. Can't give you the exact error, because i don't recall it.
Removing the plugin before upgrading doesn't help either.

Also after the upgrade i see on my forum, the forum name of him in the tab of firefox..

Like i said it is a very weird problem and never had or seen this before..

Both can be running xCache caching, you just need to define a unique prefix (config.php does mention this in the caching section.)

                  2 forums 1 server problem

Make sure that you know what the names of your databases.
I had this problem yesterday but i had a look at my host's cpanel and checked the name of my database.
Try emailing your mate and ask him if he remembers the name of his own database.

What has the name of the database to do with xcache prefix? I really do not understand your advice.
