  • [Suite] Error upgrading from 4.0 to 4.11

    Hi,

I'm getting this error when trying to upgrade, and the directory is definately writable, any ideas?

    Code:
An error has occurred. Please contact vBulletin Support for assistance.

    Module: vbblog, Step 14 Error.

Failed to write css files. Please make sure that the directory 'clientscript/vbulletin_css' is writable.

I deleted the Blog including the xml and it got as far as stage 6 when I got this

    Code:
    Processing XML
Step 6 - Merge template changes
Merged template successfully: FORUMHOME (style: 1)
An error has occurred. Please contact vBulletin Support for assistance.

    Module: final, Step 6 Error.

Failed to write css files. Please make sure that the directory 'clientscript/vbulletin_css' is writable.
I checked with a web based file manager as well as filezilla and the directory was definitely 777

Are all subdirectories also CHMOD 777?

Yes there were, I even went as far as to chmod every single file in clientscript to 777 (inherited permissions from top) and still no luck.

I recently upgraded to a new server and tried to upgrade my old server and this seems to have worked fine, is there any other related directory (such as avatars etc) which might have lost it's permissions in my server transfer process but now needs to be 777?

Try changing the CSS to be in the database:

AdminCP > Settings > Options > Style & Language Settings > Store CSS Stylesheets as Files?

Then refresh your browser to restart the upgrade from that point

                This solved my problem today.

Just for the record, the full command line error I got was

                Code:
Step 15 - PHP Fatal error: Failed to write css files. Please make sure that the directory 'clientscript/vbulletin_css' is writable.
