  • [Forum] vBulletin 4.x search engine friendly URLS mandatory?

Currently my forum is running vBulletin 3.8.x and I'm using the traditional 'p=' and 't=' URL path. Google has done a great job at indexing a large portion of over 5mil posts on my forum and external links back to specific threads or posts on my forum use this path for referencing.

I notice that vBulletin 4.x comes with search-engine friendly URLs. This prompts two questions.

    1. Is this a mandatory feature or can I continue to use the traditional 'p=' and 't=' URL path?
    2. If I chose search engine-friendly URL's, do external links (from other web sites like Google) then return a 404 error?

    Thanks in advance.

    1. You can choose your setttings.
    2. Any default vBulletin urls will still function, and be properly redirected.
