    [Suite] How to Upgrade Vbulletin 4.08 to 4.1 PL2

    I have 4.08 installed. I would like to upgrade to the latest version 4.1 PL2, but not sure if I need to upgrade the in-between upgrades first.

    Secondly, where exactly are the step by step guide to do this upgrade.

    Many thanks

    download 4.1PL2. extract the files, upload.
    /instal/upgrade.php -> enter customer number -> upgrade

    make sure to create a backup of database before you do anything.

      For me its not working, I uploaded the files , run the upgrade.php script then and in the Step 8 I had Check vBulletin blog compatibility and bellow I have the message This is a vbulletin suite installation, skiping this step.

      And then when I click to step 9, I'm back on my admin cp but nothing changed I still have the same version 4.0.8 like I had before.

          I am at my wits end trying to get a successful upgrade of this versions. I have spent hours, restoring my backup and re-installing only to find that its is impossible to get this done successfully. Here is some background, if anyone can provide any suggestions. I have 4.08 PL2 and would like to upgrade to the latest 4.10 PL 2. At first I download via my iMac computer and found after the extraction there were only two folders for upload, i.e.'includes' and 'install' (the install folder also has a 'includes' sub folder). After installing this I got error messages and the site was not able to come up. There was some talk that maybe I was not downloading correcting the upload files,or not even upload them correctly. So I tried again and again, only to get the same results. Through my PC computer - and found after extractions there were more then two folders for upload (indicating that perhaps my Mac was not extracting the download correctly). But here too, after uploading all the upload folders (except, install.install) it was somewhat successfully, but still showed that it was 4.08 - and there was not indication if the install was correctly done. Tried again, and again - more recently, I am getting a message stating that the script is not the correct one for my version of vBulletin, suggesting that I have 4.07, when in actual fact I have 4.08 !!!. So I am back to square one - Phew !!. What is going on here ?. There are many messages on the forum with this problem, but I just can't find the correct solutions.

          Any thoughts or suggestions ?.

          Thanks

            cammot - after uploading the files, did you run the upgrade script? If so, did you receive any errors during the process?

              Trevor:

              Maybe I need to start all over again, and take this step by step. The first issue perhaps, that I need to address is regards to a hand full of emails that I received from the server after I restored my backup, all of which report the same error, but different postings. This is the the error:

              +++++++++++++++
              Database error in vBulletin 4.0.8:

              Invalid SQL:

              INSERT IGNORE INTO session
              (sessionhash, userid, host, idhash, lastactivity, location, styleid, languageid, loggedin, inforum, inthread, incalendar, badlocation, useragent, bypass, profileupdate, apiclientid, apiaccesstoken)
              VALUES

              ++++++++++++

              There are several error messages with the above preface, but with different 'value' references.

              Maye I should try and fix this first, that address the upgrade.

              Could kindly advise, how I go about fixing this ?

              Thanks

                Can you give me the full error please. The line starting 'MySQL Error' is the important one...

                  Trevor;

                  Here is the entire email message I received from the server after I restored my backup. I received about ten emails with the same error message

                  Thanks

                    You have 4.1.0. files and a 4.0.8 database. You need to run uprgade.php to complete the upgrade.

                      Steve;

                      Thanks for the advise, which I carried out successfully and I now assume that I am running both 4.0.8 files and a 4.0.8 database. This is a new starting point. But when I attempt to upload the downloaded files, which is essentially two folders, 'Includes' and 'Install', I get this message in the pre-upgrade screen:

                      ++++++++++++++
                      Your vBulletin (4.0.8) does not appear to be running the version that was downloaded (4.1.0).
                      This generally means your upgrade was not successful. Please ensure that you have uploaded the latest files and click here to try again.
                      +++++++++++++++++

                      It appears that I may not be downloading the correct upgrade or maybe not uploading correctly. If we can focus on this area, maybe we could make some progress. Could you explain what the download contains ? or where I might be going wrong here.

                      Thanks

                            That is the patch file, not the complete zip file. You cannot upgrade with that. The complete file would be something like: vbulletinsuite_4-1-0_Patch_Level_2_VBXXXXXXXX.zip

                              THANK YOU... You were spot on. I was uploading the wrong upgrade file !!!. I would have never have know !.

                              I followed your plan and now have the upgrade fully installed and running perfect.

                              Thanks You Again.
