  • [Suite] How to Patch?

Okay I've been looking around on these forums for the last hour, and also checked over on vbulletin.org and I can't seem to find information on how to actually install the new 4.0.4 patch. Initially I figured it was as simple as replacing the old files with my new downloaded ones via my FTP (which is what the manual says) however I now presume I'm wrong given that I don't see the new Styles Generator or Facebook feature options. My Admin cpanel says it's 4.0.4 but the footer at the bottom of the forum still says Version 4.0.2 as well.

    Help?

If you run the suite, and 4.0.4, then get the patch from the members' area and upload it. And you're done. Otherwise the forum announcement would have mentioned running upgrade.php

If you don't run the suite, then you can't patch it. Since it's an issue with the CMS.

If you run the suite, but not 4.0.4, then download 4.0.4 pl1 suite edition, and upload the files, and run upgrade.php as usual (a normal upgrade).

Did you download the 4.0.4 pl1 upgrade or just the 4.0.4 patch? That's not clear in your post. You can't use the 4.0.4 patch unless you have 4.0.4.

Looks like thats where I was going wrong nakedanvil (not had a vBull suite for long, and yes I own the suite Floris). Didn't know I had to redownload the pl1, which basically reinstalled everything over my old forum/site that I had previously made, lol. So lost all the forums and layout that I had made (though its not too big a deal as I was only experimenting with stuff anyway). The Facebook Options and Style Generator now appear (albeit the Style Generator preview screen stretches vertically really for down (about 2000pix).

Do I now just upload the new 4.0.4. patch files through my FTP?

        Cheers guy

What does it say in your AdminCP version?

I've actually now reloaded a backup of the server that I had saved. As I started to look over all the stuff that I had overwritten I realised that there was actually a lot more work there than I first thought (I've been idly working at it for the last couple of months, but the forum and suite is not active to recruitment yet and not in use by any community).

So now that I have DL'd the vBulletin 4.0.4. PL1 and the actual Patch Files, how do I apply these without having to do an overhaul of the site and lose everything I have done with the forum/page layouts, widgets, etc?

I'm currently on (vBulletin 4.0.2 Patch Level 4)

This is what I'm wondering too. How do I not lose all my template modifications I've done, on files that don't need to be updated?
