How do I block an IP using 4.0?

    Hello everyone.
I am having a few issues, need some help if someone has time.

    1. On the CP now, trying to find out how to block an IP.
    2. The avatars for the users are now showing up. How do I get them to appear on their posts?
    3. The members have complained that they are automatically logged on soon. Can I change the time limit for an automatic log out?
    4. Is there a way to change the existing smilies?

    Thank you.

    Index Page

    Hello. Me again. The newbie.

I would like my index or home page to be customized, kind of a welcome statement, welcome to ___. Glad you are here. And add a youtube video, etc.

I have tried several different things, nothing working. what's odd, is that I created an index.html page on microsoft front page, uploaded it my host server, dragged it to the public_html folder and it shows up when I log in as administrator. but it doesn't show up when I log in as my "test" user.

Attached is what my index page looks like.

Where is the folder/index file located in the vbulletin files? Thank you (for putting up with me).

One other question (and maybe related to the first question about the error page), I am trying to customize my home page. I am attaching a screen shot of my home page.
How do I add my logo, a welcome message?

    Thanks for helping the newbie.

    You are welcome

For the first issue, as I suspected it is a permission one. Go to the Acp-Usergroups-Guests-Unregistered / Not Logged In-Edit Usergroup and under the setting: Forum Viewing Permissions you will see an option that says: Can View Forum. Set this to Yes, save the changes and you should be all set. That was to allow the guests to view the forum. Repeat the procedure with the other Groups that have problems viewing the forum.

For the second issue, for your logo you should check out the titleimage stylevar at the Styles & Templates in your Acp. Whereas for the welcome message, you can do so at the Notices in your Acp. Hope it helps.

This is the standard no permission error message. Where do they get this, when they login to the forum or when trying to view a particular area of the forum. Can you post the url to your forum with a test account please?

    o.b. - I feel your pain.
I am not trying to migrate sites, just installing new.
I found a host who did my vbulletin upload FREE!

Thank you all, found that host on this forum.

Okay. I am making some progress.
    This is fun.
Frustrating, but I like to learn new stuff.

Now I am at the point where I want to customize my index.html - home page.
I remembered reading in the installation manual about how to customize the home page, so the first thing you don't see is the forum.
But of course now, I can't find it and I'm losing my patience.

Can you guys tell me how to customize the index.html file with my own stuff, and then have a link to the forum?

    THANK YOU!

As I said above, you can download the Impex system at your customer area.

That is to export/import the db and not to convert.

I understand, I was just saying how it is as per rules here

You lost me, are you switching servers? If vb is installed at a different server, all you have to do is move your smf files+database at the same server where vb is and start with the conversion.

You can download the Impex system at your customer area.
