  • [Forum] want to move site from /forums to the index of the site ?

    Hi guys,

Currently my forum cms page comes up when i type in http://www.exxxxx.com/forums

How can i change this so it comes up at http://www.exxxxx.com instead ?

Cant see anyway to change this, sorry if this is a daft question and has been asked a thousand times, take pity

    Thanks guys

If you don't have a root page (http://www.exxxxx.com/index.php) then simply write one using a header redirect. This way you won't break your members bookmarks.

If you have a root page already, add (or make more prominent) a clickable link to the forum, to the CMS page, to the blog page... wherever you want your members to land when they enter your forums.

If you want CMS to be in the root, and the forum to be in /forums/ then you are out of luck I think. It can be done, but it breaks the internal links so not really an option.

        Wrong Forum URL
I have set the forum URL to example.com/forum in admin CP, but this shows the CMS

The forum seems to be at example.com/forum/forum.php

This screws up all my members' bookmarks and links.

What I want is the forum to be at example.com/forum and the home page to be at example.com

        Is this possible?

Where is the setting highlighted in red to be found in the admin side ?

Ive looked and cant find but probably staring me in the face.

        Thanks guys

It's the second page down in AdminCP>Settings>Options

            thanks

all sorted now, had to reupload the contents (not the folder) of upload to the root and do the install.php thing again, removed the /forums files and amended location of forum in admincp

Woo hoo, cms is now the index.

Thanks for everybody that helped in this thread, Hari Krishna

Anyone else wondering about the "CMS in root, forum in /forum" thing, it's quite possible, with vBSEO anyway.
