Figured out the only admins and logged in users.

My only problem, concern now is the URL's
Also, slight concern: Find all posts by a user is only showing posts made on vb 4.0.1 not for the existence of the board.

What was it with the Admins and Logged in users?

Have you changed them in the admincp (URL settings) and or you can do what you want with the urls pretty much via htaccess google htaccess and mod_rewrite

Showing some posts not all... the search is still not the best tbo but it's getting better chalk it up to vb4 or try updating counters but imo it's just the search.

I didn't have something checked that's why only Admins and loggined in users could see. But, now I noticed when an forum post is promoted to an actual article only logged in user can view.

Hi guys I have the full CMS version of VB.

This is what I want to do. I want to have only vbsuite as full website.

so what I did was:

1. copy www.website.com/forum's folder to a new one let's say www.web2.com
2. upgrade the 3.8.4 version to vb4 but there where problems, every link was no correct
3. so what I did was copy www.website.com/forum's folder to a new one let's say www.web2.com/forum
4. everything's working good except the CMS. when I click HOME tab I got this error Fatal error! Cannot connect to MySQL database:

Any clue?

I've also installed CMS from the start and everything's working well. There's no way to import only forum data without all the rest? I don't care about old plugins or style etc.

I would add the disabling Store CSS Stylesheets as Files to the upgrade since it seems like it is causing a problem for the majority of the people on Step 5.

Other than that, the upgrade went smoothly. I uninstalled every single mod and went through and deleted all the files just because I am anal like that. Any idea if there is a way to see what files were from 3.x.x that are no longer needed in 4.0.x? I ran a diagnostic on suspect files and it showed 20-30 of them but I short of comparing the 4.0.x install folder to 3.x.x I am not sure if I am ready to delete them.

Great suggestion as I ran into that same problem last night! I'll have this updated tomorrow and a video tutorial version is coming very soon.

Hmm try:

1. Disabling the facebook connect after you remove that line then refresh all pages and see what you get.
2. If that does not work keep it disabled and make a new default style and see if you view the error in that style, if no then make it the default style and your done... seems it's a file issue though... You uploaded all the new files correct?

Let me know how it goes but the errors seem to read from the facebook connect feature in 4.0.3

Hello,

I have problem. I made new database for testing, restore current one to it and upload copy of my live forum ( I made a subdomain ). Test site is working but I can't log in. When I try to do that it redirect me to live site for 2 seconds and bring me back to test one but still not loged in. I have change database name, user name , password ans cookie prefix and also disabled all hooks in config.php . I have also try do delete all cookies and even to install new browser which I never use but problem is still there.
Also, everywere I click link me to live site. All links same as on it.

Can you log in to AdminCP? If so, change the Forums URL in Settings > Options > Site Name / URL / Contact Details.

If you can't you'll need to edit this directly on the database.

To troubleshoot this, first reupload all the original vB non-image files (except install.php). Make sure you upload these in ASCII format and overwrite the ones on the server. Also be sure to upload the admincp files to whichever directory you have set in your config.php file. Then run 'Suspect File Versions' in Diagnostics to make sure you have all the original files for your version and that none show 'File does not contain expected contents':

Admin CP -> Maintenance -> Diagnostics -> Suspect File Versions

[Note: In some cases you may also need to remove any of the listed .xml files in the includes/xml directory.]

Next, disable all plugins.

Note: To temporarily disable the plugin system, edit config.php and add this line right under <?php

define('DISABLE_HOOKS', true);

Then if you still have this problem, create a new style and choose no parent style. This will force it to use the default templates. Finally empty your browser cache, close all browser windows then try again. Make sure you change to the new style and view your forums with it.
