  • Changing over to https, stuck with one last image not showing secure

    We're updating the site to https, the vBulletin stuff seems pretty adaptable. However, there is one image still showing up when we test it

    An image with an insecure url of "http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/images/icons/icon1.png" was loaded on line: 742 of https://www.subsim.com/radioroom/index.php.

    I'm guessing somewhere in the last few years we may have hardcoded that in somewhere. But we cannot find it.

    When I view source for the forum

    Code:

    <!-- END TEMPLATE: forumhome_subforumbit_post --></div> </td>
    <td class="alt2"><!-- BEGIN TEMPLATE: forumhome_lastpostby -->
    <div class="smallfont" align="left">
    <div>
    <span style="white-space:nowrap">
    <img class="inlineimg" src="http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/images/icons/icon1.png" alt="" border="0" />
    [REL]
    </span><!--bug#24775-->&nbsp;
    <span style="white-space:nowrap">
    <a href="showthread.php?goto=newpost&amp;t=241207" style="white-space:nowrap" title="Go to first unread post in thread '(B119) Raggz Insignia mods'"><strong>(B119) Raggz Insignia mods</strong></a></span>
    </div>
    <div style="white-space:nowrap">
    by <a href="member.php?find=lastposter&amp;f=295" rel="nofollow">skin-nl</a>
    </div>
    <div align="right" style="white-space:nowrap">
    07-06-2019 <span class="time">07:27 AM</span>
    <a href="showthread.php?p=2617265#post2617265"><img class="inlineimg" src="smartdark/lastpost.gif" alt="Go to last post" border="0" /></a>
    </div>
    </div>
    I checked the template forumhome_lastpostby for http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/images/icons/icon1.png but I don't see anything out of the ordinary. Any ideas?

    Did a search in all templates, but this is not showing up.

    And if I d/l index.php. there is not line 742. Argh!

      The simplest solution would be to force https via .htaccess:
      RewriteEngine On
      RewriteCond %{HTTPS} !=on
      RewriteRule ^ https://%{HTTP_HOST}%{REQUEST_URI} [L,R=301]

        Thanks, Omnibus. I will eventually set up a 301 redirect. You're right, that's the master solution.

        Still trying to solve the mystery of <img class="inlineimg" src="http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/images/icons/icon1.png" alt="" border="0" /> and where that could be... you know what I mean? I'll sleep better!

          The image is your default post icon. That's where it should be. Set as your default post icon.

            Settings -> Options -> Topic Display Options. Make sure the default icon is a relative path, not an absolute path.

              Wow, how did I miss that? Thank you so much, vBulletin Options/Thread Display Options and there it was.

                It is in a poor location. Unfortunately, vBulletin 3.X was coded 15 years ago so is missing a lot of customization features found in the software today.
