Is it okay to run Update Post Counts on a live forum?

Or should I absolutely wait and do that when the forum is turned off? Will it mess up the db?

Is there a specific reason you want to do it? Most of these things that you do in the update counters cannot be undone. It won't "messup" the db. But it will manually recount all users posts and tally them up and possibly change their postcounts.

Looks like that user updated his counters and it fixed the problem. Hoping it will do the same for me. Of course I'll have to assume he meant updated User Post Counts.

I confess I have occasionally rebuilt post counts while the forum has been open, though my site is not enormous.
