Is there gonna be a VB3.8.8 or 3.9.0?

Although I understand the dev team's top priority is on VB5 now, I do hope this will happen. There's no need for VB3 releases to come out very frequently, I'd appreciate if it is like about 3-4 months or even half a year per release. After all, you still see many people using VB3, bad idea to completely abandon them and leave out this market.

There will never be a new release of vBulletin 3.8.x, ever.

Best that might happen is a new security bug fix, which would be 3.8.7 PL4.
vBulletin 3 is EOL, and has been for awhile. It is in security maintenance only mode at this time.

But... VB3.8 is still by far the best forum software available on the market... Neither VB4 nor IPB/Xenforo has ever surpassed it.

Oh really? I believe most VB staff are with me though, otherwise it does not explain why all IB-staff owned forums use VB3. Only till IB staff begin using VB4 or VB5 on their own forums can we call them better softwares than VB3.8.

Personal preference, and usage of a specific version of software does not negate anything I've said. Internet brands other divisions are free to use whatever software they see fit. They're not required to use any other version of the software besides what they're licensed to. Many IB run sites are powered by major modifications to the software. They're not just running stock vBulletin code, or I suspect they would have upgraded. The cost to upgrade this code could be huge, and for each division to choose to do that is their own choice, unless a C-Level executive of their division or parent division are instructing them to do so otherwise.

I use vBulletin 3, and vBulletin 4 on my own sites that I help staff. I am already planning a vBulletin 5 upgrade, but need to resolve custom code we've been using for years now before I can migrate.

Anyway, lets just say that vBS is not going to release a vb3.9. If a vb3.9 would come out then it would be unofficial.
