  • replacement variables, high load?

I just put in 5 replacement variables and now my server load is around 7 and mysql is hitting around 200-300%. Is that expected?

There must be something else causing your high mysql load. Replacement variables have virtually zero load on your server.

Replacement variables do have some cpu cycle cost, but nothing related to MySQL in that large of a manner. Their load is on php's end.

ok must be something else, thanks! does adding RV add much hit to server performance? should I keep it under a certain amount?

I would be careful with adding lots, one or two shouldn't be a big issue.

Load will also depend on your PHP Version. Higher versions will have lower load. Replacement Variables are a big find and replace on the output of every page though.
