Upgrade to vB 3.8.7 PL3 = Database Error

I have upgraded incrementally from vB 3.6.8 PL2 to vB 3.8.7 PL3. The upgrade appears to be partially working, but it looks like I am missing some files. The database schema seems to have changed between versions, however, nothing in the patches updates this.

Is there a download of the full zip version for v3.8.7 PL3 available? I'll could then try to pick out the required schema updates.

If you overwrite the files and run the upgrader then everything will be taken care of automatically.

Patches only contain the few files that were required to be changed, for their specific version. You can't use them to upgrade.

You need to download the full version from the members area. Not just the patches.

The latest full version available to you is 3.6.8 as your access to updates expired after that version. To fix your errors now, you'll need to re-download 3.6.8 and upload those files to your server. If you want to upgrade to 3.8.7, you'll have to upgrade your license to a vB4 Forum or a vB4 Suite license.

As I'm a 3.x license owner I expected to be able to install all the 3.x patches. I thought that I would only need to purchase an upgrade to the 4.x version of vB. I understood that technical support stopped when the license expired. My ISP is now running PHP 5.3 on its servers and this has disabled vB 3.6.8 PL2, so I'm trying to get this fixed.

Any possible work-arounds I would be grateful for!

That would be an incorrect expectation.

You are entitled to all the patches released, but patches are only valid for the versions that you have access to.

Your only recourse is to either replace all files with those you are entitled to, or upgrade your license to a vB4 version, in order to get access to those 3.8 releases that you are currently unentitled to.

Why am I presented with a list of available patches? E.g.:

It's disappointing that it's impossible to upgrade to the latest version of 3.x, vB 3.8.7 PL3, it's like dangling a carrot then pulling it away to tell me I've got to pay for the latest version of vB4.

We're a non-profit Church and rely on donations and our own pockets, so we can't pull hundreds of pounds out of our hats at short notice. It was not unreasonable of us to expect to be able to upgrade incrementally within the 3.x version.

vB3 licenses were entitled to a year of upgrades from the date of purchase. Additional years of updates were an additional fee. vB4 changed the license structure, so yearly renewals went away. We have offered numerous discounts for vB4 licenses, as well as a vB3 maintenance pack a while ago. It is what it is.
