  • Database size

I just migrated my forum to a new server and my database size is too large for the current hosting. Since up to now my buddy took care of the hosting and managing the database so there is allot thats going to be new to me.

So regarding the size and making it smaller I have a ton of un-needed threads I can remove (I have attachments in a file system and not in the database also). So can I simply start removing those threads to decrease the size of the database? Or is there something else I need to do besides that? Thanks for any info to a newbie managing his database.

You can delete the threads and users it will reduce your database size. You would do this in the AdminCP under Threads & Posts -> Prune.

Make sure your custom avatars, profile pictures and signature pictures are stored in the file system as well. You can do this under Avatars -> User Picture Storage Type.
