  • PHP Deprecated errors in server log

    Hi all,

Since upgrading my server I'm apparently getting PHP Deprecated errors, and quite a lot of them. Here's an example of one:

[Tue Mar 25 12:06:04 2014] [warn] [client 66.249.67.76] mod_fcgid: stderr: PHP Deprecated: Assigning the return value of new by reference is deprecated in /var/www/vhosts/barbel.co.uk/httpdocs/site/vbulletin/forum/includes/init.php on line 55

Does anyone know how I'd stop these? I've upgraded to 3.8.7 PL4 by doing a full upgrade. I do have the licence for 3.8.8. Would that solve the issue?

    Regards,

    Andy

Yes, vBulletin 3.8.8. beta is compatible with your version of PHP. However deprecated warnings aren't catastrophic. They actually don't inhibit the page from running.

If you upgraded PHP to 5.4, then you should run 3.8.8.

You should try to get your webhost to update to php 5.3.28.

            Hi,

We've updated to PHP 5.3.28 but were still getting errors, such as:

[Wed Mar 26 15:34:47 2014] [warn] [client 94.228.34.207] mod_fcgid: stderr: PHP Deprecated: Assigning the return value of new by reference is deprecated in /var/www/vhosts/barbel.co.uk/httpdocs/site/vbulletin/forum/includes/class_core.php on line 2552, referer: http://www.barbel.co.uk/site/vbulletin/forum/blogs/shaun-nurse/

            Thanks,

            Andy
