Corrupt file , what to do?

Yesterday i started receiving tons of emails from the loggin service saying my site was down. Basically it was the post file. I tried to run the repair on the admin cp and it could not repair it. Then i went into the WHM and tried to repair the sql database, still did not repair.. finally i came to the realization it was corrupt. Lucky enough i do nightly backups so i restored a backfrom from the previous day, all seemed well.

thsi morning i woke up and i got ANOTHER corrupt file, this time a different one:

Database error in vBulletin 3.8.1: Invalid SQL: SELECT ap.*,p.caption FROM albumpicture ap LEFT JOIN picture p on p.pictureid=ap.pictureid WHERE state = 'visible' AND albumid = '26'; MySQL Error : Table 'p' is marked as crashed and should be repaired Error Number : 1194 Request Date : Thursday, September 22nd 2011 @ 02:00:31 AM Error Date : Thursday, September 22nd 2011 @ 02:01:51 AM Script : http://www.bcaquaria.com/forum/cron.php?rand=1316678430 Referrer : http://www.bcaquaria.com/forum/freshwater-livestock-25/ IP Address : 24.86.175.215 Username : Unregistered Classname : vB_Database MySQL Version :
Why are all these fiels corrupting, and how do i fix it. I tried to repair and it said it failed cause it was corrupt

If i just reinstalled 3.8.1 patch 1 that i currently have, will it replace the bad files and keep my forum data?

That's normal. Often it takes running the repair several times to fix a damaged table.

It's very seldom that tables get corrupted. In my limited experience I've only seen it happen when the hard disk is starting to go. The only proactive thing to do is to make sure your server has newer hardware.

            Any further ideas?

            Would reinstalling bulletin do anything?

Run the repair again to fix the post table.

Are you on a shared or dedicated server?

If your tables are consistently corrupting, this may be a sign of a larger problem - you should speak to your host about this

You were right, my vps crashed last night. They had to switch me to another vps.

Problem solved, you both are smart
