  • Logging out due to "WWW" in address bar

I installed an arcade in my forum and the links run off what is set in my "Site Name / URL" option in the admin section. For example, if I set it to "http://www.sitename.com", the links in the arcade will include the www. If I set it to "http://sitename.com", the arcade sets the links without the www. Only problem is, when someone logs in with "http://www.sitename.com" and the link the click on goes to "http://sitename.com", it says they're not logged in.

Is there a way I can make it so they are always logged in, whether the URL be with or without the "www" in the address bar?

    Thanks

If you allow users to login to your site via both http://www.yoursite.com and just yoursite.com., then you MUST have your cookie domain (vboptions > cookies > cookie domain) set to ".yoursite.com" (no quotes, but note the period at the beginning) or your users will have problems. Also, make sure to tell your users to click the Remember Me button when they login.

If changing that does not fix your arcade issue, then you will need to post in the arcade thread for help since we do not help with modifications.

Please don't PM or VM me for support - I only help out in the threads.

I suggest you force the www by adding this to your .htaceess file.

      Code:
      RewriteEngine on
      rewritecond %{http_host} ^mysite.com [nc]
      rewriterule ^(.*)$ http://www.mysite.com/$1 [r=301,nc]
