  • Changed domain, blank white screens

    Hello,

    I've recently gotten rid of all database errors after uploading and importing everything needed to a new domain name. All I get now is a blank white screen, and nothing more. I've even tried manually putting in the admin cp link, yet a blank screen still.

    Any suggestions? I've searched and found that you should replace the default style, but I can't get into the admin cp to do so.

    link to forums is http://askenable.com/oldforums

    Thanks!

    Please see this for all the known causes of blank or 'white' pages:

    http://www.vbulletin.com/docs/html/blank_pages

    Note: If you get a blank page when logging into the Admin CP, often simply reloading the Admin CP URL a few times will let you in.

      Thanks for the reply. It looks like the only one of those steps that I could actually do was disable all plugins by adding

      <?php
      define('DISABLE_HOOKS', true);
      /*======================================================================*\

      To the top of config.php

      Now I get a database error

      Any ideas? The link again is askenable.com/forums

        For what it's worth it is now giving me the title of the forums across the top of my browser. It wasn't doing that before.

          Also the image doesn't show on the vbulletin database error page, when I right-click and hit view image it attempts to load it from my old domain. Again, just trying to be helpful.

            We need to see the real error message. Right-click on the error page and go to View/Source. Then copy-n-paste the error message here.

                That means you do not have the vb_session table. Check the database. Are you using a table prefix? What is the name of the last table?

                    Unfortunately that database is not complete. I hope you still have access to the original database because this will be the only way to fix this.

                    You need to make a new backup and restore that one. The only consistently reliable method of backing up and restoring a database is with shell access via telnet or ssh. This is because backing up with a PHP script like that in the Admin CP or phpMyAdmin can result in PHP timeout errors and an incomplete backup file.

                    Please see the instructions here:

                    Backup:
                    http://www.vbulletin.com/docs/html/m...nce_ssh_backup

                    Restore:
                    http://www.vbulletin.com/docs/html/m...ce_ssh_restore

                    If you don't have telnet or SSH access, some people have reported success with these scripts:

                    MySQLDumper:
                    http://www.mysqldumper.net/

                    MySQLHotxcopy:

                      I am not comfortable with using either of those as they seem to be out of my skill range. Do I have any other options?

                        Those are the most reliable options. I do not have anything to recommend that is equally reliable.
