Admin news no longer appearing, newsproxy.php returning nonsense.

Can you try re-downloading the ZIP file from the Members Area and re-upload all files (except install/install.php and includes/config.php.new) making sure you overwrite all files currently on your server.

Does this resolve the problem?

Are you zipping on a server level and in AdminCP > vBulletin Options > Cookies & HTTP Header Options > GZIP HTML Output?

GZIP HTML Output was indeed turned on but turning it off has no effect on the newsproxy.php output. It even has no effect on my forum page headers, which include "Content-Encoding: gzip" regardless of that setting.

I should note that the headers in my post above are those received from: http://version.vbulletin.com/news.xml?v=386&id=Lxxxxxx as sniffed here.

Also notice that it is only the body of the $result (of fetching news.xml from version.vbulletin.com) that is garbled, not the headers.

Is "Content-Encoding: gzip" causing a problem here? Or is it something else?
