  • Can't log out?

    Version 3.8.4
    I have found a pattern.
Several months ago, I posted about this issue here.
It seems that I cannot log out from my forum when using my Admin act.
This is directly after I change my password as required by the Software.
I clear all of my Browser cookies, it doesn't' help.
    What have I noticed?
After a month or so this clears itself out.....
    This only reappears when I get the message below;
" You must change your password.
Your password is X number of days old.

Once I change my PW I am stuck, I cannot log out of the forum for approx two months.

Never heard of that. Do you have any add-ns installed?

Also the password expiry is a Usergroup setting. Set it to '0' to turn it off:

Admin CP -> Usergroups -> Usergroup Manager -> Edit Usergroup -> Password Expiry -> 0

Note: You can still log into the Admin CP even when this is expired.

      Hi Steve,
I have VBA CMS , a custom skin, who visited today, nothing else.
The same as another forum of mine.
      Only the skin is different.
I have several registered member acts that I use.
This one forum just won't let me log out of my admin act, the other acts log out fine.
I do receive the page " you have successfully logged out, all cookies cleared."
      No dice though.

      Thank you,

Have you tried clearing cookies? Most commonly "falied logouts" like this are caused by corrupted cookies.

          Yes,
Clearing out the browser cookies does not help.
The only way it will clear itself is when I reboot the PC.
It also takes hold of my Ipad, I have to reboot that machine as well.
Once this eventually clears itself, " the last time it was close to two months ' I can log in and out fine with the admin act.
It is only after I get the VB message that my password has expired and I need to change it.
Once I do, this scenario happens all over again.
Could the Skin be causing this? I have had several small visual bugs that were upgraded with the skin.
          Thank you

It's possible, depending on what it does with the logout URLs.

Best test - create a new style with no parent, view the site using this and see if the same problem occurs.

If it does then the next step is to look towards any plugins or modifications. Disable them all and see if it sorts it, then re-enable them one by one until you find the one causing the issue.
