Sending mails from forum via SMTP SSL - what it is?

How working this option? Mail (as message) sending from forum is encrypted? Or only login to smtp server is encrypted?

If I turn this on, then hackers cant sniff passwords from mails which are sending in "forgot password" option? Or this have something else job?

I do not believe SMTP email is encrypted at all.

If you have someone sniffing your network packets you've got bigger problems than your smtp email relays.

I believe it is just the authentication server.

Not exactly sure what your question is - but SMTP over SSL is perfectly possible (it uses port 465). However, not many mail servers support it.

Do you mean why or where ? "Why" I cannot answer, its your choice.

"Where" is in the vBoptions > Email Options - all the smtp options (including SSL/TLS) are at the bottom.

                    Some servers REQUIRE ssl authentication.

I suggest you refer to google on the benefits of SSL and TLS.
