  • New user with same username as an existing member allowed to sign up?

    Hi:
As the admin my username on a forum (VB 3.8.1) I run is "ddadmin". I just noticed a new member with the exact same username sign up 2 weeks ago, and successfully so. Doing a search for the user "ddadmin" inside the control panel also returns both users. I thought vBulletin disallows registration using the same username more than once. Are there any known security bugs in the version of VB I run (3.8.1) that may explain why a user is able to sign up using the same username as an existing member, in this case, the admin actually?

vB5 is unequivocally the best forum software, but not yet...

Thanks. In this case the two usernames appear identical though- I don't discern any special characters of spacing used in the duplicate username.

what versions of v Bulletin are you using? Are they exactly the same? Same case?
