RSS Manager / Feed - Help!

For some reason, my RSS Feed will no longer work correctly (happened after an upgrade, I am currently running 3.8.6 Patch Level 1).

The only way I can get it to run is to manually run the following query on the database:

    update rssfeed set lastrun=0;

If I do not run this query, the feed will not trigger into the forums. I got that code from one of the 2 forums (vbulletin.com or vbulletin.org) awhile back but am VERY sick of having to manually trigger feeds into the forums when it 'should just work'.

Any idea what the problem is?

That should be done by a scheduled task. Scheduled tasks are triggered by code in the footer template, so if you have modified this template or added code to other templates it may interfere with the running of the tasks. Also if there is no activity on your forums, the task won't run.

What are the items I need to put into my footer? The template has been updated, but not at the same time that the issue began. And the forum is plenty busy

I do have the following in my footer, which is the same as was there before:

<!-- Do not remove $cronimage or your scheduled tasks will cease to function -->
        $cronimage
<!-- Do not remove $cronimage or your scheduled tasks will cease to function -->

Then you probably have another modification that is causing this.

To troubleshoot this, first reupload all the original vB non-image files (except install.php). Make sure you upload these in ASCII format and overwrite the ones on the server. Also be sure to upload the admincp files to whichever directory you have set in your config.php file. Then run 'Suspect File Versions' in Diagnostics to make sure you have all the original files for your version and that none show 'File does not contain expected contents':

Admin CP -> Maintenance -> Diagnostics -> Suspect File Versions

[Note: In some cases you may also need to remove any of the listed .xml files in the includes/xml directory.]

Next, disable all products (except vB Blog and vB CMS if you are running the Suite.)

Admin CP -> Plugins & Products -> Manage Products -> Disable

Then manually uncheck all plugins that are not for 'vBulletin Blog' and vBulletin CMS' here:

Admin CP -> Plugins & Products -> Plugin Manager

You must do BOTH of those steps in order to disable all non vBulletin Modifications.

Then if you still have this problem, create a new style and choose no parent style. This will force it to use the default templates. Finally empty your browser cache, close all browser windows then try again. Make sure you change to the new style and view your forums with it.

Do you have the same problem?
