deleted users are not hidden on their posts anymore

Hi,

All posts that were written by deleted users are no longer marked purely as guest but [username] with guest as the usertitle.

Normally when I delete someone their username isn't ever shown again.

Is there a setting somewhere the decides this? Or a template I should check?

I think the database is fine as the posts have a username but no userid as expected.

I'm on VB 3.8.6. And the problem occurs whether I'm logged in or not.

That is correct behavior and it's always been this way. The username is not removed.

What's the best way to hide usernames on posts by deleted users?

How about editing the postbit template to say: <if condition="$post[userid]">$post[musername]<else />deleted</if> ?

ok, well this worked except not for the archive. Any idea how to edit the archive templates?

Look in archive/index.php for "username" and you should find output that spits out the username. There are hooks around there where you can write php to change this (same condition, but using php).
