    You see....anytime i've installed a vb I always put vba on the homepage....so I never had to deal with this.

    Lemme ask this...on my host's root....where all my files are.. (where "Forum" sits), should there be an "Index" file of any sort? If so which one? The same on that sits inside "Forum"?

    Look, create a file called index.php and place the following code in it:

    PHP Code:
    <?php

    header
    ('Location: http://www.themodforum.com/forum');

    ?>
    Then, upload it inside the /public_html/ or the /www/ directory in your server space. And you should be all set.

    Read the directions again.

    PHP Code:
    <?php

    header
    ('Location: http://www.yourforum.com/forum');

    ?>
    is your new index.php file, not .htaccess.
    Keep in mind you will be wiping over your vBadvanced portal page.

    Edit: Are you planning on using your root directory for something else?
    If not, why not just place all you core files there?

    Hope it helps.
    this is what I want. Everytime I try and put a code into the htaccess file it throws an error.

    my site is www.themodforum.com. I want users to click that link and go right into the forum which would be www.themodforum.com/forum

    can you do the code for me?

    thanks!

    I would create (or add to) a .htaccess file and drop it in your root directory.

    Redirect 301 /index.php /forum/index.php

    So, you want http://yourdomain.com to go to yourdomain.com/forum ?
    Go into your Host's Control Panel (cPanel or similar) and click on Redirects (it's usually under the domains category)
    Then set up the redirect there.
