  • Exporting vbulletin forums

I have some dormant forums on my current vbforum that I would like to export to an open source platform for a new project. I am deciding between bbpress and phpbb....I read that only phpbb accommodates an export from VB.

I realize phpbb should have some documentation but wondering if someone may have some information before I proceed. Is this something that could mess up my vbforum during the process? I'm not even sure if I can export specific forums or not...if not I could export the entire forum and prune it, as long as it is copied over and not actually moved. Just wondering what part Vbulletin plays in such a maneuver.

Make a backup of your database. Install phpbb on your own pc locally using wamp. Try it out. Import your entire forum. Delete what you don't need. Then eventually put the phpbb up online using the new pruned db.

You'd be better off posting on a phpbb forum about it for more info.

punchbowl is correct. We do not support exporting to third party softwares vBulletin plays almost no part in this.
