    Fulltext search?

Maybe I am misunderstanding what the fulltext search is doing but we have a forum running 3.8.4 and search works, kind of.

Say a post contains the word 'template'

If a user searches for 'plate' they won't get any results, but if they search for 'template' they will. Does the fulltext search only return results if they match exactly for the whole word? What I mean is it won't find results for part of the word?

I tried using '*plate' but that didn't work either.

Is this the way search is supposed to function or do I have something configured wrong?

    Thanks

Wildcards work as a suffix, not a prefix. The behavior that you're experiencing is the proper behavior.

So 'temp*' or 'template*' should work but '*plate' will not.
