  • Spam bots are taking over my forum

Every day I have to go into my forum and delete a couple threads from bots that spam advertisements for various drugs. I've enabled human verification options when registering and enabled email confirmation to complete the register process.

How do I get rid of them?

Use the Questions & Answer system, do not use captcha as it's ineffective.

Where is it located? I can't find it.

        You can change that here:

Admin CP -> vBulletin Options -> Human Verification Manager
Steve Machol, former vBulletin Customer Support Manager (and NOT retired!)
Change CKEditor Colors to Match Style (for 4.1.4 and above)

Do you mean Human Verification Options? I've already checked Register.

No, I meant the Human Verification Manager. See attached pic.

              Thanks Steve.

I added in the Q&A section with my own question.

Question. I added the Q&A part where you specified. I logged out and pressed Register. I don't see the option to answer my question. Where should it be?

Did you turn on Image Verification:

Admin CP -> vBulletin Options -> vBulletin Options -> Human Verification Options -> Registration (checked)

And make sure that the Unregistered usergroup has this set:

Admin CP -> Usergroups -> Usergroup Manager -> Edit Usergroup (Unregistered) -> Require Human Verification on Configured Actions -> Yes

Thanks for all your help and fast replies Steve! It's working well now. I shouldn't have a problem again.

                    Go vB!

Why do you say that? I've not had one Bot registration since I started using reCaptcha.

Edit - Ah! I think you meant the default vBulletin reCaptcha system (I meant reCaptcha)
