Changing domain of forums from sub domain to main domain, advice?

So I'm planning to change my forums main address from http://forums.swiftor.com to http://swiftor.com/forums to enhance the SEO stuff. The forum technically already resides there anyway.

Is there anything in particular I need to worry about or warn my users of?

The plan was to change the forum url in settings, and have the subdomain just forward to the new address.

Anything else I should be aware of?

That's exactly what I did a while back and never had a problem, the forum files are relative to the parent folder, I also had a fair few plugins that continued to work without issue.
